Reading Is Awesome!
Reading Is Awesome! is a project that aims to encourage and promote reading among all elementary school students in Quebec. By focusing on the pleasure of reading, regularity, and autonomy, the initiative supports the adoption of sustainable and accessible reading habits for everyone.

The Reading Passport
Each participating student receives a Reading Passport, a simple and motivating tool that accompanies them for a month on their reading journey. The passport offers reading activities, fun challenges, and invitations to explore books in different ways, making reading engaging and stimulating.
To progress in their reading passport, students commit to reading for a minimum of 15 minutes per day. For each reading session completed, their teacher stamps a box in their passport, allowing them to track their efforts and become aware of their progress throughout the month.
A journey into the heart of books
The Reading Passport is inspired by the idea of travel. Each book becomes an exploration of new worlds, characters, ideas, and cultures. Each reading period represents a stage of this journey, symbolized by a stamped box, bearing witness to the path traveled.
By highlighting each student's journey, the Reading Passport reinforces the pleasure of reading and the feeling of pride.

Challenges to enrich the experience
Beyond reading time, the Passport offers a series of varied challenges to complete throughout the month. These challenges invite students to:
Reading in diverse contexts
Discover different genres and formats of texts
Sharing their reading experiences
Reflecting on their reading journey
And Many more

The winning school of the Reading is awesome challenge!
A scoring system is in place to track the completion of challenges by students from the various participating schools. Each completed challenge earns points, which are then compiled at the school level.
The ranking is established based on the points rate obtained according to the number of students enrolled, thus ensuring fair competition between schools, regardless of their size.
Among the schools that have collected the highest percentage of points, a draw will determine the school that will win the Reading is awesome challenge!
